Since 1921 - your trusted ship supplier in Uruguay

The History of Seilas Ship Supplies

In the heart of Montevideo, Uruguay, a maritime legacy was born in 1921 when Ivar Molstad, a Norwegian entrepreneur, established Seilas Ship Supplies. The company's humble beginnings were marked by a deep understanding of the unique needs of whaling vessels, ensuring they were well-equipped for their perilous expeditions to the South Pole.

A family legacy that steers the course

In 1950, Walter Gallo, a young man with an unwavering passion for the maritime industry, joined Seilas Ship Supplies at the tender age of 14. Under the mentorship of Ivar Molstad, Gallo immersed himself in the company's rich maritime heritage, acquiring invaluable experience and honing his skills.

As the years unfolded, Walter Gallo's dedication and expertise propelled him to the forefront of Seilas Ship Supplies. In 1972, following the passing of Ivar Molstad, Walter sought permission from the founder's widow to continue using the company's name. This marked the transition of Seilas Ship Supplies into a family-owned venture.
